Explore Vail Valley this Winter! The Nature Discovery Center, atop Vail Mountain, offers daily nature outings during the winter season – now through April 15. The Nature Discovery Center is a community-based partnership between Vail Resorts, the US Forest Service and Gore Range Natural Science School (GRNSS).
Secrets in the Snow
Put on some snowshoes, join a Gore Range Natural Science School naturalist, and explore the Vail Valley! A one-hour walk will uncover the winter activities of plants, insects, birds, and mammals and what they must do to survive.
Date and Time: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday; 11 am – Noon
Place: Nature Discovery Center: All-seasons yurt adjacent Eagle’s Nest gondola and Adventure Ridge atop Vail Mountain.
Cost: Suggested donation: $10/person; $20/family
Winter Challenge
Learn about the challenges that winter poses for Rocky Mountain Wildlife. and the adaptations that wildlife makes for surviving!
Date and Time: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday; 3PM – 4PM

Signs of Life
Uncover the mysteries of wildlife in this one-hour program. Learn how to identify where animals have been, what they were doing, and where they’re going.
Date and Time: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; 11 AM - Noon

Evergreen Advantage
This one-hour program explores plants in the winter, and how they respond to the icy-cold temperatures in the Rocky Mountains.
Date and Time: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday; 3 PM – 4PM
Place: Nature Discovery Center: All-seasons yurt adjacent Eagle’s Nest gondola and Adventure Ridge atop Vail Mountain.
Cost: Suggested donation: $10/person; $20/family
Moonlight Ramble
Enjoy a 90-minute snowshoe hike that explores the life of animals at night in the winter months.
Date and Time: Twice monthly, during full moon; 7:30 – 9:30 PM
Place: Discovery Center: All-seasons yurt adjacent Eagle’s Nest gondola and Adventure Ridge atop Vail Mountain.
Cost: Suggested donation: $15person
