The Hotel Colorado is getting a $2 million face-lift, due to be completed this summer. The money will be spent restoring the hotel to bring back some features that have been removed in other renovations. The faux waterfall will be built in the restaurant along with open fireplaces, bringing back some of the original grandeur.

The lobby will be renovated and will be open with more seating area and a cocktail bar so patrons and visitors will be able to enjoy a martini with the soothing sounds of piano from the baby grand. The current bar will be moved and the restaurant will be walled off to make it more private from the lobby area. The new restaurant and bar are to open in July.

Built more than 113 years ago the Hotel Colorado has been a Glenwood Springs landmark throughout the years. Guests over the years have included US presidents and Chicago gangsters.
