May Day for Mutts. Colorado Animal Rescue (CARE) annual benefit and festival will be held at High Tails this year on Saturday, May 22, from 10 to 4. It will consist of an adoptathon, featuring dogs from several area shelters, birds from the Gabriel Foundation, Big Buddy Horse Rescue. Booths and tables will provide a whole day’s entertainment for pet lovers of all ages. Some of the attractions:
- Dress- and make-up your dog with Nancy from the Shaggy Dog. Decorate your dog and then participate in the fashion parade!
- Learn about acupuncture, nutrition, Chinese and herbal medicine from Cindy Wallis, the Natural Vet.
- Find out how smart your dog is with the doggy IQ test!
- Kids, learn how to be safe around strange dogs and cats! Play our game!
- See the federal ranger dog in action, performing evidence searches!
- Find out what it takes to get your dog certified to be a therapy dog! Roaring Fork Heeling Partners will demonstrate the certification test and answer questions about how your dog can become a therapy dog.
- See a demonstration of the dog sports of agility and flyball.
- Get your dog microchipped – the only permanent, non-removable form of identification.
