Glenwood Springs to Telluride Colorado – Spectacular Drive
AmyT | 23 August 2006
My husband and I recently set out for a road trip from Glenwood Springs to Telluride Colorado. We chose the scenic route heading south on highway 82 through Carbondale and over McClure Pass on highway 133. The views driving up McClure Pass are spectacular. We traveled through the town of Olathe and stopped for their famous Olathe Corn festival.
I’m sure most Glenwood Springs residents are familiar with the sweet Olathe corn that hits our grocery stores this time every year. It was fun in a “small town festival kind of way.” After we enjoyed our corn and visited a few booths we resumed our journey to Telluride. Once we arrived, we decided we needed to stay the night and truly experience the atmosphere and culture of this quaint little town. The views of the mountains, valleys and the streams were awe-inspiring. We had breakfast at the coolest and apparently the oldest restaurant in Telluride called Baked in Telluride. Our breakfast was so good we returned the following morning. We ended up staying at The Hotel Telluride with views of the San Juan Mountains and a cozy western atmosphere. Our ride back to Glenwood was as beautiful and peaceful as our trip there. We chose to live in Glenwood Springs for many reasons; one being all the great places to explore nearby. We have rejuvenated ourselves and ready for one more week of work. We are planning another road trip, but no sure where to go? Anyone with recommendations are appreciated.
