Weekend Visiting Downtown Denver

In my opinion, Glenwood Springs is one of the best places to live and raise a family. I moved here nine years ago to escape the congestion of big cities and enjoy the niceties of small town, mountain life. But occasionally, I need to escape the mountains and experience some excitement and culture. When I’m feeling bored I escape to Denver for the weekend.I stay in Downtown Denver to be close to the Sixteenth Street Mall, an assortment of restaurants and plenty of nightlife. Usually after the first night of fun we attempt to redeem ourselves by visiting a museum. My favorites are the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Art Museum. Also, we always check out what is playing at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, they put on excellent productions.
The Curtis Hotel is a fun and different place to stay. It is a centrally located hotel in Downtown Denver only two blocks from the Sixteenth Street Mall. The Curtis Hotel offers 13 themed floors from “Sci-Fi” to a “Mad About Music” floor. They have a Denver Hotel Package on their website and online reservations are simple.
By the end of the weekend I am always anxious to return to my simple small time life and enjoy the scenic ride back home.

I am a glenwood springer who went to Denver this weekend. We went to the Butterfly Pavillion on Sunday and really enjoyed it. It has a big butterfly exhibit, a small hands-on nature/science exhibit, and my favorite, a invertebrea/bug exhibit with bees, roaches, scorpions, tarantulas, etc. You could also pet starfish. The spiders/bugs/beetles was probably the favorite of the kids. As a museum, we spend 90 minutes and saw the whole thing… it was just the right size.
The Butterfly pavillion is in Westminster (north of Denver). We also went to the Wildlife Experience on Saturday. It was bigger and had displays of animals from all around the world… mostly stuffed. It was great too.
