Hiking and Biking

Hanging Lake is the most famous local hike. No dog, go early to avoid the crowds.

Glenwood Canyon Path runs an easy 16 miles through the whole length of Glenwood Canyon. A popular trail with a trail head in Glenwood Springs and Dotsero. Drivers can access it though rest areas in No Name, Grizzly Creek, Hanging Lake and Bair Ranch.

Doc Holliday’s Trail is an easy hike only trail for 1/2 a mile. Good signage to trail that climbs to an old cemetary with the grave of Doc Holiday.

Jeanne Golay Trail (Red Mountain) is a moderate hike popular with local hikers, bikers and dog lovers. Often dogs outnumber humans. The cross is the top of the Hike.

Boy Scout Trail is moderate trail for 3 miles on East side of town with outlooks over the roaring fork and colorado rivers.

Storm King Memorial Trail is a short but moderate hike to memorials for the 14 firefighters who died here in 1995.

Mitchell Creek Trail is a moderate hiking only trail. 4 miles. Hikers must park at fish hatchery and hike for 10 minutes up to trailhead. Or, stay as a guest at Mitchell Creek B&B.

Grizzly Creek Trail is moderate hiking only along Grizzly Creek for 3 miles. Intrepid hikers can go further than three miles.
