Glenwood Springs Downtown Market is open for business every Tuesday evening through September 25 in Centennial Park at the corner of 8th and Grand Avenue. There are a variety of items including fruit from local orchards, fresh baked breads, local wines, jerky, and you can even get a henna tattoo. Much of the local produce sold is not in yet but expect it to arrive around July 4th. According to Z’s orchard, the infamous peaches from Palisade will appear soon. They are just about ready for picking.
Listen to live music from 5-7 p.m. while you peruse the vendors or wander over to the “Cook a la Carte Tent” and watch Chef Jason Higens of 8th street deli share his recipe for cherries jubilee.
Christian Scott Jazz Trumpeter at Summer of Jazz
Trent | 14 June 2007 1 Review »

One of the hotest new jazz stars to emerge in the last few years is trumpeter Christian Scott. Christian is a native of New Orleans and will no doubt make a significant impact on the future of jazz. Only 22, he is a prodigy, a natural and a huge talent. The Grammy nominated Christian Scott combines jazz and hip-hop in a smooth and sophisticated sound that is reminscent of late-1960s Miles Davis combined with some hip and hop.

Shannon brilliantly combines elements of funk, jazz and rock & roll into his guitar playing, and his soulful vocals are not your run-of-the-mill stylings. In fact, most things about Shannon are exceptional: the way he write songs, the way he sings them, and the way he presents them…. (more…)
