Get a taste of New York in Beaver Creek by checking out the Humor on the Slopes Cartooning Festival starting Friday and ending Sunday. Six cartoonists from the New Yorker magazine - Harry Bliss, Matt Diffee, Ed Koren, Bob Mankoff, Victoria Roberts and Jack Zeigler - will be showing up for an eventful weekend of cartoons and conversation.

Meet the cartoonists for conversation at Cartoons and Coffee at Starbucks, Cartoons and Cocktails, and Dine and Doodle. How about sketch and sleigh? There is even something for kids – Kid-tooning with the New Yorkers. A competition will get everybody involved in cartooning. Each cartoonist will provide a caption-less illustration. Competitors will submit captions and those with the best captions will be awarded the original art signed by the cartoonist. All Humor on the Slopes events are free!

On Saturday night, get into some Concert-tooning when Super Diamond celebrates Beaver Creek Resort’s 25th anniversary at Vilar Center for the Arts. Tickets are $15. All proceeds benefit the local Eagle County Public Education Foundation. Call 845-TIXS for ticket information.

Visit www.humorontheslopes.com or call (800) 404-3535 for event information.

CHAIRLIFT ADS GET GREEN LIGHT
The Washington, D.C. office of the U.S. Forest Services issued an interim directive saying that ads for products and services are acceptable inside a building and other “interior spaces” operated by concessionaires or permit holders, like the Aspen Skiing Co., on national forests. The directive defined the safety bars of chairlifts as an interior space. That means ads are allowed on chairlifts as long as they are on the safety bars facing riders and not hanging off the back of the lift. Public comment will be taken through March 27 before a final decision.
