Special Hotel Rates for Colorado Residents

Residents of Colorado can get special rates when staying at the Sky Hotel in Aspen.  I heard an ad on the radio and because I was unable to find anything on their website as to what the rate was about I contacted the hotel.  And sure enough if you have a Colorado driver’s license you can get a “Colorado Resident” rate.

In the off-season it is a bargain at $125.00 a night and includes; room, valet parking, and continental breakfast.  According to John Curnow, the General Manager the discount is valid all year but the rate fluctuates.  You can hob-nob with the Aspen elite knowing that you got special treatment because you chose to live in Colorado - yeah!

Note that the lounge will be closed from April 17th till April 17 till May 12…Just give reservations a call (970-925-6760) if you are interested and mention you are a Colorado Resident.

Check out the rooms and suites online at The Sky Hotel (lower or turn off your volume as they have music on the site.)

I am thinking that our next anniversary, rather than spend $100 on dinner in Denver we will wing our way over to Aspen. Oh, and they have some pet freindly guest rooms so you can bring your ‘best friend’.

The Hotel Colorado is getting a $2 million face-lift, due to be completed this summer. The money will be spent restoring the hotel to bring back some features that have been removed in other renovations. The faux waterfall will be built in the restaurant along with open fireplaces, bringing back some of the original grandeur.

Comcast’s cable Internet service has been out since Sunday from Aspen to Parachute and in the Winter Park area, affecting some 7,500 high-speed Internet users. The outage was caused by the accidental cutting of a fiber optic circuit by railroad crews making repairs from a train derailment near Winter Park. It is the second outage for the company since October due to train derailments.

Ski, Swim and Stay at Sunlight, Glenwood Springs

We went for the first time to snowboard at Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs this last Saturday. What a great place, I loved the local flavour! We arrived earlier in the day, about 9:30ish and were Snowboard at Sunlightamazed that there were so few people on the slopes. The resort has a number of great runs, a few which were more challenging than others. For most of the day we ended up finding a sweet run where no one else seemed to be, lots of powder that gave us a few face shots!

The lifts are not at fast as other resorts, but according to a guy in the bar they have the oldest lift in Colorado, purchased from Aspen. The place was full of young people and the restaurant was hopping with families it is a great resort really close to Glenwood Springs, about 8 or 9 miles out it seems.
